An Airplane Affair…

>

It began with an invitation. What was to follow was a slightly over the top tons of fun airplane-themed bash for my nephew Jake, who celebrated the big 0-1 last weekend.

I have to give my sister credit for this one. We were brainstorming ideas for the upcoming birthday when she called me and said, “I’m thinking airplanes.”

Awesome, I thought. A chance to work on my cookie decorating! Ok, so the cookies weren’t my only motivation, but I do love any chance to take a theme and run with it. Besides, what little boy (or big older brother) wouldn’t love an airplane party?

Within a few hours of said theme selection, I had a sample of the invitations in my inbox and an adorable color palette to work with. What can I say, my sister is a doer.

(NOTE: I highly recommend this theme for a kids party. While I’m all for uniquely designed parties with custom color palettes and PMS color overload, my sister and I worked on this party from opposite ends of the state and choosing a more general theme made it that much easier to coordinate all of the elements the day of the party.)

I had so much fun working on Jake’s party because it allowed me to incorporate all of the things I love: a little baking here, some arts and crafts there and a splash of graphic design everywhere. I’ll try to add more photos from the day later, but for now here are the detail shots from:
